shouldn't make you ask "why is this so hard?"
Your new operational copilot: the business year in plain English, with income assurance, recalls and rota tools built in. Searches you can finally understand and trust, plus a search builder anyone can use. No more 224 page rule PDFs, 80,000 row spreadsheets, or evenings lost to population reporting.
One clear place for the whole job.
Type anything (an indicator, a code, a code list, an action) and Atlas takes you there. Each tool does one job well.
Build a search
Answer the questions; the Forge writes the search and creates EMIS-importable XML, validated before you ever see a download button. No XML knowledge needed. Prefer to just describe it? The AI builder (in beta) drafts it for you; you always review the draft, and it can never invent a code.
Explain a search
Drop an EMIS search export and read it back in plain English: every rule, every include/exclude path, with a flow diagram of how a patient moves through it.
Score the year
Where each indicator stands, where it lands by 31 March at the current rate, and which single appointments feed the most points, deadline-weighted, in pounds as well as points.
Find what's outstanding
Income assurance: what's still on the table before year-end, what it's worth in pounds, and who to call, worked out from your own recall report with a tick-off call list you can actually run.
Ready-to-send invites
Turn the ATLAS recall report into personalised invitation lists, split by contact method and reason, compliant-by-construction with the QOF guidebook's invitation rules.
Build the month's rota
Staff, rooms and sessions in one editable rota, with clashes and cover gaps caught as you type, an auto-fill starting point, and a printable sheet the whole team can read.
Income, protected by the rules
Every in-house search follows NHS England's official business rules 1:1, line by line: the searches that decide your income, built to the letter of the scheme. Any divergence that cannot be avoided is ledgered and explained, honestly and clearly. Never silent.
Does this code count?
Search any SNOMED code, explore every indicator and register, and see exactly what changed this year: code-list churn and business-rule amendments, release by release.
LES and DES are being integrated into Practice Atlas right now: we're building Cheshire and Merseyside ICB's LQIS and GP Specification first. Not your area? Email developer@practiceatlas.org to request your local schemes. BYOS: bring your own specification.
Three steps, no setup
Sign in and pick your scheme
Atlas is already loaded with the year's official NHS England data: the current PCD refset release, business rules, points and thresholds. Nothing to install.
Bring your exports, if you like
Drop an EMIS search export into X-Ray, or a recall report into Recalls. Files are read in your browser and never uploaded to us; your data is stored on your machine between visits, clear it anytime, or export it to take with you.
Take the work back out
Download EMIS-importable XML from the Forge, CSV send-lists from Recalls, printable reports from X-Ray. Atlas prepares; your systems stay the source of truth.
The reasonable questions
Does any patient data leave the practice?+
No. Patient data never leaves your web browser, stored locally on your machine. You can export it to take with you to another machine and import it back. The only data we process is for login authentication and for generating searches from your search definitions, never patient data. We don't want your data; the product was built to keep it where it belongs, in your practice. The privacy badge in the app header isn't decoration; it's the architecture.
Where do the numbers come from?+
Everything is built from NHS England official data: the PCD refset content releases, the QOF business rules, and the points and thresholds in the year's QOF guidance. Every page states the exact release it was built from.
Is this telling clinicians what to do?+
No. Atlas is a planning aid: every figure is computed for you to check against the record, not an instruction. Clinical decisions stay with the clinician; Atlas just makes sure nobody is giving up their evening to decode XML and work out what is due.
Can I trust the searches it builds?+
Forge output is validated and round-trip sealed: the XML is re-read and proven canon-identical before download. House searches follow the official business rules 1:1; the only knowing divergences are when a rule is impossible to follow as written, or when EMIS hasn't yet caught up, each adjudicated by a human and published in the ledger.
What happens when the rules change mid-year?+
QOF is not static, and we keep the estate current with every published release. Atlas checks the NHS publication sources daily, so a new release is spotted the day it lands. When NHS England published the latest QOF business-rules update (v51.1) in July 2026, we updated, tested, validated and shipped the amended searches within 72 hours, and logged exactly what changed inside the app, in plain English, with the searches it touched.
Who is it for?+
Anyone in primary care who touches the incentive schemes: practice managers watching the money, GPs and digital leads minding the searches, admin teams running recalls and rotas, PCN and federation roles keeping several practices straight, and whoever inherited the searches folder. If a question starts "why does it have to be this hard?", it's for you.
How do I get an account?+
Atlas is currently in a closed beta, releasing more widely in 2026. Email signup@practiceatlas.org to join the waitlist. If you already have an account, sign in to unlock and the page decrypts in your browser.
Free during the closed beta
Free for beta practices while we finish verification. Launch pricing will include founders' rates, and is worked out per practice per year from list size: 15p per patient per year, plus a £250 onboarding fee in year one*. For the average practice of 9,700 patients that is £1,705 in year one, then £1,455 a year. Minimum £1,000 a year; maximum £2,500. (*subject to change)
Already paying for searches elsewhere? Trial Atlas for 3 months free of charge, and keep the income it finds.
For scale: in 2026 this way of working recovered around £12,000 in QOF reclaims plus £600 a quarter on local schemes at a single UK practice. One practice's audited result, not a promised saving; what Atlas finds depends on your coding and claims position.
